DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS.
At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted :
Fat Cattle—2l6 were yarded, onehalf of which were good to prime, the balance only ordinary. Best bullocks brought £7 5s to £8 5s (one pen extra prime £8 15s); medium to good, £4 to £6 15s; cows, from £3 7a 6d to £6 17s 6d.—Messrs Eeid, Maclean and Co. sold for the Waimate Estate, 12 prime bullocks from £6 2s 6d to £7 12s 6d, and 6 heifers from £4 17a 6d to £5 2s 6d ; for a South Canterbury client, 18 prime heavyweight bullocks from £6 17s 6d to £8 15s (top price); for Messrs M'Goverin and Hardie (The Hook), 6 heifers from £4i 17s 6d to £sl7s 6d. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co, sold for Mr Andrew Grant (Temuka), 6 bullocks at from £7 7s 6d to £7 17s 6u. Messrs Donald Eeid and Co. sold for Messrs M'Goverin and Hardie (Hie Hook, Waimate), 6 prime heifers at £6, 7 cows at £3 12s 6d ; for Mr Thomas Sutherland (Swamp Flat), 11 cows at £4 10s to £5; for Mr E. Marshall (Outram), 9 bullocks at £7.
Fat Sheep—3s7l were penned, of which 300 were merino wethers, the balance crossbreds. Prices fell from Is 6d to 2s per head. Best crossbred wethers brought 8s to 9s; ordinary, 6s 9d to 7s 9d; best crossbred ewes, 7s 9d to 8s 9d; ordinary, 5s 6d to 7s 6d; merino wethers, 5s 3d to 6s.— Mr Donald Stronach sold for Mr Andrew Grant (Temuka), 68 half bred ewes from 6s 6d to 7s. Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold for Mr J. Bishop (Pleasant Point) 24 halfbreds at 6s; for Mr Andrew Grant (Temuka), 132 crossbred wethers at 7s.
Eat Lambs Best brought 5s 6d to 7s; others, 3s 6d to ss.—Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold for Mr J. Bishop (Pleasant Point), 36 at 4s 6d. Pigs—Suckers brought 6a to 9s; slips, 9s to 14s 6d; stores, 15s to 21s; porkers, 22s 6d to 275; baconers, 30s to 465.
DUNEDiN WOOL SALES
The second series of wool sales was commenced at Dunedin on Thursday, when there was a good attendance of local and foreign buyers. Bidding for clean and well got up merinos was brisk, and the prices realised were about the same as those of last sale, in some instances for special lots a shade higher. Greasy merino brought up to lO^d; do crossbred, 6£d to 9£d; do half bred, 7?d to lOd; pieces, 4|d to d; locks, 2d to 4|d.

Maize (best) 4a, market dull. Wheat (milling), 3a 6d to 3s 8d; fowls’, 2s lid (scarce). Oats, seed, 2s to 2s 2d; feed, 2s 3d; business dull. Potatoes (local), 40s to 455. .New Zealand oatmeal, unsaleable. New Zealand hams, lid to Is; bacon, Bd.

Breadsturfs are active. Wheat is quoted at 3s 3|-d., Oats are 2s lOd to 3s o|d. Prime stout barley is 2s Maize is quoted at 3s Bid. Adelaide, Jan. 19.
Wheat is quoted at 3s 3d, and for out ports 3s lOd. Flour has improved (roller-made' is quoted at £9, Oats are at 2s lOd. Barley is quoted at 4s to 4s 6d.
ENGLISH MARKETS
London, Jan. 18. Tallow has advanced Is. Beef is worth 25s 6d, and mutton. 265. The wool market is firm. The arrivals are 210,000 bales. , Tanned skins and hides are in fair demand. Beet sugar has declined 6d. German sugar is 15s. Frozen meat is dull, and there is a slight decline.
