POST-OFFICE RETURNS.

The postal revenue for the quarter ended 81st December was £46,980 6s Id, and for the corresponding peried last year £49,518 6s 6d. The telegraph revenue for paid telegrams was £28,689 19s 7d, for the corresponding period last year it was £26,108 6s 7d. The value of Government telegrams was £SBOB Os 7d, £or the same period last year £695* 5s lid. T%e number and amount of money orders issued were: No., 41,980 ; amount, £142,880 14s Bd. Corresponding period last year: No., 40,891; amount, £142,569 9a. The number frfid amount paid are as follow: — JNo., 33,621; amount, £119,482 8s 4d. game period last year: No., 32,768; amount, £119,046 15s 9d. Following are the Savings Bank returns : Deposits, £326,994 5s Id; withdrawals, £282,341 XBs sd. Corresponding quarter, 1886: Deposits, £264,185 10s 3d ; withdrawals, £804,636 14s. Postal notes to the value of £12,602 14s s|d were sold, as against £9820 12s 6d last year. The amount paid was £12,422, as against £9588 12s fid for the corresponding quarter last year.
