At Wellington yesterday Crabtree was committed fur trial on two charges of burglary and house breaking. Lieutenant Andrews, whose orders to join the Essex regiment were countermanded, has received orders to join the seoond battalion of the Devonshire Regiment (the old Eleventh) in India. Ohaa. T. W. The sportsmen took with them a tent, blankets, cooking utensils, provisions, fishing tackle, guns, ammunition, and other paraphernalia, and intended to enjoy a few hours’sport and a couple of nighis of camp life. All proceeded well until! about noou the following day, when two of the party went into the tent fora sleep, while the others were told off to cook the mid-day meal. A fire was duly lighted to boil the billy, when a cruel wind sprang up, carried the fire on to the tussocks, andthe flames quickly caught and consumed the tent, and gave the - noon.day sleepers a big scare. Clothing, blankets, and all other inflammable material were totally destroyed, while the guns and the sportsmen's watches were seriously damaged.
