AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT.

TIMARU. Messrs Gracie, Maclean, and Adonreport for the past fortnight ending Saturday as follows : Horses—At the Tim am Horse Bazaar on the 29th ult., over 30 head were offered for sale, a fair proportion of these were good draughts, all of which were disposed of at prices up to £24 10s. Our entry to-day was a email one, this, however, we anticipated, as farmers ere now making the best potable use of their time harvesting. We sold a few and quote prices of medium t" good draught* at from £ls to £24 10's; aged and inferior, from £4 10s to £10; hacks and light harness horses, £lO t'i £ls 10s for good useful animals ; aged and weedy, almost unsaleable. Cattle—At Washdyko on the 27th ult., the fat pens w ere veil filled, but as some of the local butchers had been getting supplied outside the market, business was rather quiet. Store cattle were in fair demand, and nearly all the good lots yarded changed hands, yearlings to two-year-olds being most enquired for. We sold four fat cows at from £6 to £6 12s fid ; two steers at £4 15» ; four at £4 10s ; 25 head young stores, at from 30s to £3 per he»d ; and privately during the week we sold 460 head well-bred store cattle to southern buyers ; and locally 51 bead. Sheep—At Washdyke on the 27th January, there were only 6 pens of fat sheep forward, these being second quality ewes, consequently butchers have been compelled to purchase privately since then. We sold st auction, 39 fat ewes at 4-i; 37 at 4s Id; 60 at 4s 31; and privately 200 fat ewes and 200 lambs. There is very little business doing in store sheep at present, but we look for a slight improvement in this class of stock for stubble feeding. We sold during the week 2000 two-tooth orossbieds, and 1160 crossbred ewes at satisfactory prices.
