MILFORD SCHOOL.

Tho annual sporta and distribution of priz«a in connection with the Milford District School took place last Friday. The'children and their parents and fripnda met at the school at one o’clock, and eat down to an excellent tea prepaycfi by Mesdames P. Wareing, Parke, Christmas, White, Brown, Woodhead, and McKay. After the gopd tilings were done full justice to, Mrs Hay hurst, senr., and Mrs Hayhnrst, junr., of Green Hayes, judged tho girls’ sewing for prizes, after which all assembled in the schoolroom, and the prizes were given away by Mr J. Brown, Chairman of the Committee, as follows Standard I.—Harold Wareing 1, Charles,Parke 2, Percy Wareing 3. Standard ll.—George > Moulton 1, Beatrice Wareing 2, John White 3. Standard lll.—Gertrude Wareing 1, Samuel Parke 2, William McKay 3. Standard JBrogden 1, David'Parke 2. ' Standard V.—Annie Brown 1, Przas given by Mr Goldsmith to boys for regular attendance —William McKay 1, John McKay'2, Robert Brown 3. ‘ Prizes given by the Committee to girls for regular attendance—Jane Maze I, Annie Brown 2, Annie Maze 3, t The following, took tho prizes for sewing Standard V.—Annie Brown. Standard IV.—Florence Brogden. Standard lll.—Gertrude Wareing 1, Agnes Maze 2, Agnes Wareing 3. Standard 11.-r-Beatrica Wareing 1, Jane Maze 2, Bose Woodley 3. Standard I.—Maud Woodhead, Mrs Hayhurst, junr., special prize, a pair of looking-glasses—Harriet Woodhead. Mrs Hsybnrst’s special prize, a glove box and handkerchief box—Emma Smith. Sports were then held, and a large number of useful and ornamental prizes were distributed amongst the successful competitors. When the proceedings came to a c ! oso about 6 p.m. Mr Woodley proposed a vote of thanks to Mesdames Hayhurst for having so kindly judged the sewing. A vote of thanks was also given to the Committee for the energetic manner in which they had worked in getting up the prizes. On the motion of Mr CbnVmas, a vote of thunks was given to Mr Goldsmith for the prizes he gave for good attendance, and many good wishes were expressed fo‘ his Mt cess in his now sphere of labors. The proc dings shortly afterwards tame to a close.
