FIRES.
A disastrous fire broke out in the Golconda Hotel, Coromandel, on Tuesday evening, and spread with great rapidity, there bisintr no means of extinguishing it. Four house?, the Bridge Hotel, and the Golconda Hotel were totally destroyed. The damage is estimated at £3OOO, and ihe insurances, so far as kuown, amount to £4OO. Mr O'laelberg'sresidence, Worsop Road, Masteiton, was hurned down on Monday ni"ht. The loss is approximated at £SOOO. The insurances are : House, £1400; furniture, £6OO ; library, £I2OO, all in the National office, which it is understood is reinsured for £I2OO wiib the United. Tiie farmhouse of Mr Brown Hunt, Mikimiki, near Mat-terto'n, was burnt on Monday. The estimated loss is £550. The inMirarices are £2OO m, the London and Liverpool, und £IOO in the South British. A shop and residence in Tuam ftieet, Ohristchnrch, owned and • occupied by Walter Martin, general storekeeper, was burnt'down on Tuesday. Nothing was save''. Tne building *as insured for £3OO in the Stapdard Office, the stock for £3OO in the Guardian office, and the furniture for £l5O in the South British.
