GIRL KILLED BY A CHILD.
An i quest was held at Penrith recently, before Mr Lee, Deputy-Coroner, touching the death of Joan Ann R«e, a girl thirteen years old, who had been killed by a stone thrown by her eousiri, John Graham, eight years of age. The evidence showed that sovrral childien were playing together on the previous .Sunday jn Penrith Beacon Wood, where they were gathering blackberries. The boy Graham had been interfering with the fruit gathering by jumping on the bushes, and the deceased, who hod a stick, threatened to thrash him if he did not go away, and gave him a rap with a stick. Graham thereupon, threw a stone at her, but missed her, and he threw another while she was standing with her back towards him, and this hit her on the back of the neck, causing rupture of a blood-vessel at the base of, the brain. The girl dropped down and died in a few minutes. The jury re-, tamed a verdict that the death of the deceased was caused by the stone thrown by Graham, but that he being only eight years ef age was not of sufficient capacity to have felonious intent. Graham is in custody of the police, and will be brought before, the Magistrates.,
