GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The usual monthly meeting of this Committee was held in the schoolroom on Wednesday evening. Present — Messrs N. Dunlop (Chairman), J, Cunningham, G, Ward, C. E. Sherratt, T. Farrell, W. Shiers, and R. S. Cook, MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, COREBSPOMDSNGfi. A letter was read from the S.O. Board of Education informing the Committee that the .sum of £l2 18s had been placed to the Cqmmittee’s credit in the Bank, being the Committee’s Account tot inoidiniali for the quarter,

This information was necessary in order to assist the Inspector in making hie vifij.g,—lt wts decided that the Chairman should reply stating that eight weeks’ holidays were given, vis. .—Four weeks at Christmas, two at Easter, and two at midwinter. MEAD MASTER'S REPORT. The Master’s report for the month was read and showed the attendance for the month to be as f Hows Average weekly roll: Boys, 127; girls, 115:; total, 242. Average attendance: Boys, 104; girls, 89 ; total, 194. Highest attendance: Boys, 110; girls, 104=; total, 214. A supply of ink-wells and bottles fbr one of the desks asked for. The report also called me attention of the Committee to the state of the locks and the plaster which have been pointed out to the visitors, visitors’ rhpoet.

The visitors for the month reported that they had received two tenders for the work anthorised to be done at the last mseting. The tenders received bad been Gore £2O 14s, and G, Kruse £l9, They bad accepted Mr Kruse’s and he was now going on with the work. They also reported having visited the' school daring the month and found everything in satisfactory working order, with the teachers all in their places, sod a good attendance. The front gate wanted raising a little.—On the motion of Mr Sbiers, seconded by Mr Farrell, the action ot the VisitingCommittee in letting the painting, etc., was approved of. Mr B rase wrote to the Committee asking that the cheque for bis contract be drawn and placed in. the hands of Mr Dunlop, in order that he might not have to wait till the next meeting of the Committee t« get his money in the event of his completing bis, contract in the -meantime. After some little discussion it was decided to draw a cheque for £9 and place it. in the hands of Mr Dunlop to bo handed to Mr Kruse as a progress payment as soon as the visitors for the month sanction the same. The raising of the gate was left in the hands of.-Messrs Ward, Cook and Shiers, who were appointed visiters for the month.

Accounts to the amount of £6 17s 6d were passed for payment, Messrs P. W. Hutton and Co.’s account being held oVer till next meeting. This being all the business the Board ad] aimed till Wednesday evening, Nov. 24.
