He (the Chairman), had had an interview with the' manager of the bank, who had expressed an opinion that thb'.Council could'', not anticipate its loan, and that it would be necepsury that all proper steps should be taken under the Act before any loan vould be obtained. . He .suggested the advisability of .preparing ihe.,.rate .rolls, with a view to the striking of rote fornext year.; ~, Mr W.'T. Sperry, Property Tax Commissioner,' forwarded a, statement, of the, subsidies to which the Mount Peel'add TemukaEoad Boards ware entitled., ,„ A letter was Mr E. Cole asking 'to have his name struck off the roll in respect, of certain property, and the Dames of W. S. 1 Lindsay, B. Gould, and P. Stratford, substituted. —Granted. ~ Accounts amounting to £503 were passed for payment. Proposed by 'Mr seconded by Mr Balfour, and carried—" That a special' meeting of held on Wednesday, October 28th, at 2 p.m., to pas's special order adopting the. Local Bodies Loans Act generally within the Counfy; alfo to pass a special order reconstituting the Eangitata and Orari Plains Water Supply District." t Proposed by. Mr Balfour,,seconded. by,Mr Barker and carried—" That the Mp.unt'Peel Road Bpard be referred to the minutes of' the proceedings of Mount Cook Road Board dated September slb, 1881, in ' which the Mount Cook Eoad Board agrees to bear half the cost..of erecting.a.bndge aver.bo.undaty. river South Opuha upon, certain, which is understood hava been cojßpiiedjtuitii by the Mount Peel Board in paying half of footbridge over the Opihi near Fan-lie Creeks" The meeting then terminated.
