For forging the name of Robert Forest, farmer, Waim >te to a promissory netft for £IOO on the 2nd August;.; Information laid by *4ußtn Kirby detective. —ForuPt L'ave evidence to the effect that he wan >n Hall and Meason's on the'2nd August and signed a promissory, no|e to \V. Lambie that day, which he produced.,. He had not signed a promissory note in fayor of Hall and Meason for two years. The signature on the note produced was * good {imitation of his.—Evidence" was given in suppoit. The note was discounted.

For forging the name of Hugh Campboll, Pleasant Valley, to a proinissoryjaote for £SO, on August 4, 1886.—Hugh Campbell, farmer; Pleasant Valley} near Geraldine, said he had some, business transactions with Hall and Meason on the 26th July. For forging the name of William Moore, licensee of the Melville Hotel, Timaru, to a note for £3O on June sth, and also for I'orging'the name of William Moore on the same date to s, note for the sum of, £63 4s. —Arthur Steadman deposed to both 'notes being discounted. For forging the name of Ellis Mills, farmer, near Timaru, to a promissory for £4O. —A. Steadman deposed to its being discounted. This concluded the list.
