AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TIMARU, Messrs Grade, Maclean and Adam report for the fortnight ending Saturday as follows: Horses —At the Timaru Horse Bazaar on the 28th August their entry was much larger, and the quality of draughts better, than for several weeks prvious. Competition was brisk during the sale, and resulted in all the draught stock (with the exception of a pair of colts) being disposed of at slightly improved prices. Their entry to-day was small, with very little business doing. They quote medium to good at from £l7 to £2B 10s ; inferior and aged, £8 to £l2 10s. Hacks—No really good sorts are offering; sales' made up to £9 10s. Sheep—At Washdyke on the 26th August the entry was about an average one, and, with the excsption of a few prime fat wethers, the demand was slack. They sold at auction and privately 40 crossbred wethers at 18s 9d, 78 crossbreds at 8s 6d, 80 crossbred ewes at Bs, 200 crossbred ewes in lamb, and 180 fat crossbred wethers, Cattle~At Washdyke fat cattle were conspicuous by their absence, and butchers were compelled to look elsewhere tor supplies. Any lots coming to band now will meet a ready sale. They have no transactions to report. They have enquiries for good dairy cows in milk or near calving. Skins—They held their regular sale on Wednesday last, and . catalogued over 2000 skins. Buyers were well represented, and competition fairly good. Butchers’ crossbreds brought 3s 6d to 4s 5d ; merinos, medium, 2s 3d to 8s 94. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, Sept. 3. New Zealand grain maintains last week’s prices. Wheat ip quoted at 4s 4d, and oats 2s 6d per bushel. Maize has declined 4d, to-day’s prices being 2s 4d per 561bs. Sugar Company’s No. 1 pieces, £25 per ton. No alteration is reported in the value of potatoes. Adelaide, Sept 5. Shipping wheat is quoted at 5s Id to 5s 2d per bushel. Adelaide town flour, £ll 7s 6d to £l2 per ton ; country ditto, £lO 12s 6d.
