AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT.
. GERALDINE. Messrs J. Mtmdell and 00. report sales for the wrek ending Saturday, 4th oejit., 1886 : Cattle— At the Geraldine monthly sale on Wednesday the entry, was irincipally made up of two and thret-year-old steers and heifers in uv condition and springers. The ormer failefd to find buyers anything near owners’ reserves, but the latter found buyers readily according to quality at from £4 2s 6d to £5 10s. No fat stock were yarded. - -At Winchester Fair on Thursday several Hues of fat stock came forward, and found buyers readily •t the following prices, viz. ; Steers, £7 os ; heifers, £6 15s, being about 22s 6d per 100 lb. We have no change to report m store cattle, feed being scarce in this district as yet. Sheep—At the Geraldine Yards on Wednesday the entry consisted chiefly of stores, which found buyers at prices considerably in advance of those lately ruling. Prices realised, were : For first cross hoggets, 5a 21; very weedy, sold at 3s 111; crossbred store ewes and wethers sold at Gs Id.— At Winchester Fair on Thursday we sold fat crossbred wethers at 12s. Pigs—At the Geraldine Yards we sold 8 bacon pigs at 20s. Skins —At our rooms, Geraldine, on Tuesday, we submitted to auction an average entry’ of butchers’ and farmers crossbred and merino skins. Prices realised were : For belchers’, 4s 6|d to 4s 8d ; farmers’ skins, 2s 3d to 2s 9d ; merino skins, 2s to 2s 6d ; pelts and light wool sorts sold at 6d to 6i- i.
