A- trial o (-Auckland manufactured ammunition wns.roade at the Weliingion Rjflo range on'Thursday afternoon id the presence of Major'-Murrieti, Captain Coleman, Lieut. V-oge), and Messrs P. Mar•bail, and E. T. Gillu-. (Evening Post) i Qnptain E. Whitney, manufacturer of the fTmmunition, explained that the sample of cartridges sent from Auckland to Welling ton, had, by soma mistake, not been sei-t to the range, but a previous sample was substituted. The conditions of the, trial were t«n shots at 300yds, second-clasi targets, rai i -v firing, Lieut. Vogel, who won the fc. 'i 'e Cup at »he. Wimbledon meeting, fired j#ith English manufactured .ammunition, Captain, Whitney using his •wn, and both, firing- with strange r-fhs. Lieut. Vogel took Imin 35socs, making two bull’s eyes, five centres and thr « outers, total 29. Captain Whitney to-k Imin 16sec, scoring five bull’s eyes, t««> centres and three outers, total 32. It h-d been intended to make a further trial *' j fiOOyds but die- rain interfered. Ah present expressed themselves sst'stiee with the amninaition, both for accurai \ and rapidity of firing.
