AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD ELECTION.
TO THE HEITOR. Sir, —Will you kindly allow me apace in your valuable journal to thank the ratepayers of Arowhenua for their support In the recent election, if defeated I take it as a great honor to poll ho well, considering the cry that was raised against me, that I would be much under Mr Lee’s clutches. I may state that al though working for Mr Lee, he never was the man to try and influence men to do things against their will after their day’s work is done, winch maoy know. I would have spoken on the subject at the declaration of the poll, but the elected candidates never uttered a word, and it was not for the defeated to speak first. In my opinion five good men have been elected, which I hope time will prove, Before closing I cannot refrain from congratulating my old friend, Mr Edgeler, upon the honor placed upon him by putting him at the top of the poll, which he is worthy of. If his mates will take as much interest in our welfare we may rest assured that the Board will bo a great success. Thanking you for your kindness, Mr Editor, l am, etc., Evan Yailbnder. Aroweenua, Aug. 23, 1883.
