July 20, Sailed, this afternoon— I’e Anau, s.s., for the Bluff.
The Colonial Treasurer, Mr Gillies, introduced lh* Financial Statement in the Legislative Assembly this evening. He estimates the revenue at £6,970,000, and the expenditure at £6,910,000. The revenue for the past financial year was £6,420,000, and the expenditure £6,820,000, the actual surplus at the commencement of the current financial year being £30,000. Mr Gillies proposes to increase the ad valorem duties upon woollen goods, piece wolltini to 20 per cent., end made-up woollens to 30 per cent. Sydney, July 20.
