TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above Board wen held last evening. Present —Messrs Gray (Chairman), Brown, Blyth, and Mason. MINUTES. From the New Zealand Land League, Oamnru, asking the co-operation of the Board to assist in carrying Kir George Grey’s Bill through Parliament.—No action was taken. BIVBK ENCROACHMENT. The Chairman said be was surprised no steps had been taken in regard to the river encroachment. It was for the public to stir in the matter.—No action was taken, lamplighter, From Mr Boulter statiig that the now lamps consumed 50 per cent more oil than the old ones, and asking for some allowance for it,—Mr Blyth said it stood to reason that a burne r would burn more than an inch one. Ho would move—“ That 8s be allowed the lamp-lighter, to the end of his contract,” —Mr Mason seconded the motion and it was carried. It was decided to call for tenders for lighting tiie lamps by next Board day. overseer’s RIPOBT. The Overseer’s report was to the effect that one man had been employed 20| days at shingling, patching, etc. ; two 2-horse teams were employed for one day. There was still a few days’ patching and grubbing erorse to be done, and the water-channels of back streets required cleaning, Commerce ‘Street and Railway Terrace required shingling, The balance in Bank was last Board day £135 9s 7d, and there was now £3Bl 18s 5d to the credit of the Board. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £39 Os 2d were passed for payment. The Board then adjourned.
