INSTALLATION SUPPER AT GERALDINE.

On Friday evenin g last the installation of the various officers for the ensuing term of the Loyal Victoria Lodge No. 19, 1.0.0. F., took place in the lodge room. The ceremony was performed in the usual manner by the D.D.G.W.M., Bro. Geo. Ward, and the following officers were installed;—N.G., Bro. A. Spence ; Y.G., Bro. G. C. Ramble; S., Bro. G. H. Patrick ; T., Bro. J. Kalangher ; R.S.N.G., P \ J. W. Pye ; L.S.N.G., Bro. J. I‘, -; W., Bro. P. Dierck; C., Bro. J. Dobbie ; R.S.Y.G., Bro. W, Coltman; L.S.V.G., Bro. T. Farrell; I. Bro. J. Cunningham ; R.S.S., Bro. R. Hammond ;L.S.S., Bro. J. Williams; Auditors, Bros. W. S. Maslin and J. Cunningham. At the conclusion of the installation ceremony the brethren sat down to a capital dinner, which had been prepared'by Bros. J. Williams and Sons, whose names- ere sufficient guarantee of the quality and quantity of the good things provided. The newly-installed N.Q. occupied the chair, and the V.Q. the Tice : ohair. Full justice having been to the viands the usual loyal and patriotic toasts were drunk with enthusiasm. ‘

The Chairman then proposed “ Success to til® Grand Lodge,” coupled with the names of Bros. Dobbie and Kalaugher. Bro. -Lodge was next called uponjfor a ■•ng. Bro, Kalaugher thanked the brethren on behalf of the Grand Lodge for the manner in which they'bad drunk the toast. Bro; ’ Dobbie stated that he’had never had the pleasure of being in the Grand Lodge, bat bad, while in Dunedin, met several of its members, who hud treated him in a most brotberley manner, and had also enquired after the Geraldine Lodge, of which he had told them. Bro'. Ramble proposed “ The N,G.» Bro. Spence,” which was drank > with musical honors.

Bro, Spencs briefly thanked those pre-sent-for the manner in which they had drank the toast, testifying to the benefit to bo derived from Oddfellowship. Bro; Coltman proposed “ Success to the (Loyal Victoria Lodge,” coupled with the nairaes of Bros. xt. Hammond and 0. Py®; Both these gentlemen responded, speaking of their experience as Oddfellows, and sxpreasing the pleasure and benefit they had derived by being members o’ the Order, rind-hoping that many of the young people of Geraldine would join the Victoria Lodge. The Chairman proposed the V.G., Bro. Ramble. Bro. Dobbie having given a recitation. Bro. Ramble replied in suitable terms, thanking them for the way in which they had drank the toast.

“ The . Newly Installed Brothers," eoupled with the name of Bro. Patrick, was tb® next on the programme. Bro. Hammond gave a song, after which Bro. Patrick replied, thanking the on behalf of himaelf and other officers, for the way in which they had drank the toast, and expressing the hope that they might prove as successful as their predecessors. Bro. C. Pye proposed n The Retiring Officers,” coupled with the names of BroCunningham and Coltman, special reference being made to the manner in which Bro. Cunningham had filled the office of Secretary during .the last term. Mr Hughes was next called on for a song.

Bro, Cunningham in reply expressed his thanks for the manner in which the toast bad been drank, and the hope that he might be of more service to the Lodge during the coming term ; also, his deeper conviction of the benefits of Oddfellowship the more he studied it. Bro. Coltman also replied, stating that for his part be would ba an Oddfellow if there were no benefits attached to it at all. The sociable qualities it angendered wer® a benefit in themselves. He hoped to see many joining the Lodge in Geraldine, and thought the members should put-,forth more strenuous efforts to induce others to join the Order. The toast of The Newly Made Members ” was coupled with the names of Bros. Farrell and Maslin,

Bro. Farrell expressed his thanks for the way the way the toast had been received and hia willingness to do whatever laid in bis power for the benefit of the Lodge. Bro. Maslin was sorry to see there were not more newly-made members present. He thought the Lodge bad not been doing its duty in not having more new members present. The Order ought to be s progressive one. He pointed out some of the benefits to be derived from Oddfellowship, and reasons why members should loin, hoping that the coming term should be a prosperous one to Oddfellow■hip in Geraldine. “ The Health of the Newly-appointed Officers/’was coupled with the names of Bros, Dierck and J. W. Pye, who briefly responded. ■

“ The Health of the Visitors ” was responded to by Messrs Lodge, G. Bethune, gpd |Jateß ; BrO. Lodge then contributed a song. “The Past Grands," was coupled with the names of Bros. Pizzey, Williams, and Dohbie, and was responded to by each of those gentlemen.

“ The Absent Brethren ” was coupled with the name of Mr C. E. Sherratt, and responded to by Bro. Maslin.

Bro. J.. Wiliams then gave a song, “‘The ‘ Press f? : was responder} to by Messrs Hughes, Hiskens, and Fisher. Bro. C. Pye then gave a recitation. “ The 1 Ladies,” was coupled with the names Bros, Cunningham and Patrick who replied in appropriate terms.
