He then left the house, but returned, and fired two more shots at a perton who attempted to secure him, and one of these wounded King. Prisoner was found guilty, with a recommendation to mercy on accouut of his youth. Sentence was deferred pending a decision on some law points raised. Next day the girl funny Taylor wes observed wandering about the banks of the Y»rra-Yarra in a suspicious way, and she told several persons that she intended drowning herself. A constable was sent for, and when ho arrived she made etrenuoas sfforts to throw herself into the water, but was prevented. She declared she wanted to drown herself because the young man Cook was going to be hanged for shooting at her. She was charged at the Police Court with attempted suicide, but allowed to go free, being taken charge of by a respectable family till she could procure a situation.
