TIMARU PRODUCE MARKETS.

New Zealand Loan aid Mercantile Ag' ncy Company report as follows :-

Wool—This market during the past month has been well supplied, and a good demand exists, so that all lots coming forward are promptly cleared. The favorable advices of the London Wool Market have, caused prices to harden slightly. Privately and by auction we have this nif-nth passed 7,000 bales through our bands. Tallow and Fat—There is no alteration to note. We have effected sales of rough fat at 7b 6d to 10s per cwt. Bides—AH lots coming to hand meet with a ready sale, Paring the past month we have placed a considerable number.

Wheat —A considerable amount of activity has been displayed in the wheat market during the past month, and prices have consequently advanced. Sales of prime milling have been itude at 4s to 4s Id ex store, which may be taken as the present market value. Our mills are still working day and night, and orders for flour are coming to hand freely. Fowl wheat is in demand at up to 33 2d for good whole, and 2s 9d for broken.

Oats—A fair demand baa lately been experienced, and holders are now firm at following rates : —Milling and heavy bright teed, 2s Id ; stout feed, Is lOd to 28, according to quoli«y and color ; long feed (bright), Is 9d to Is lOd ; discolored, Id to 2d lower ; quotations ex store.

Barley—Market very quiel; only feed aorta are enquired after, the supply of which is rather short.

Ryegrass—lt is yet early for the spring demand, and, in the absence of transactions, quotations are difficult to give, but holders are asking 5s to 5s 6d and 4s 3d to 4s 9d for farmers' parcels. Cocksfoot Considering the large crop harvested, stocks are not heavy, and as the bulk of the seed held is of prime quality, holders are firm in their dtmanda of 4d to ex store for well dressed samples. (Small lines of light seed are offering at 3f , . CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addington market on Wednesday, there was a moderate entry of stock, and the attendance of buyers hardly an avarage one, the weather being very cold and wintry. Fat cattle -A middling entry, various qualities. A small attendance and dull trade at commencement of sale; better business towards the end ; late values on the whole about ruling. Steers sold from £5 to £7 15s ; beifers from £3 10s to £5 17s 6d > being from 17s 6d to 19a per lOOlbs, as per quality. Store cattle—Only a small entry, with a poor demand. No alteration in values in the dairy market, very few entered, and little business doing. Fat sheep— Moderate entry, some lines being of exceptional merit, and for these a good inquiry was shown. Medium sorts, in face of the small entry, also improved. Sales were as follows : Heavy crossbred wethers, from 10s 6d to 13s 9d ; medium, 7s 6d to 10s ; crossbred ewes, from 5s 3d to 10s ; merino wethers sold from 5s 3d to 9s 9d and 10s 61, the latter prices being for a few pens of grand quality. From l£d to If d per lb was the average price. Store Bheep— A small entry, and an almost utter able nee cf buyers; some aged crossbred ewes sold at from Is 3d to 2a per head. Pigs—A very he»vy entry, and very low r«tes ruling. Bacon pigs sold at from 26s to 43i; porkers, 12s to 18s, being from 2|<i to 2|«i per lb. Stores almost unsaleable. DTJNEDIK STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted : Fat Cattle—There were yarded for requirements at Burnside 156 head, the greater portion of which were ordinary quality, only a few pens being prime. At the comm p ßcoment of the sales prices advanced by iQs per head on last week's values, but as the Bales pro. greßscd prices gradually receded, and subsequently rates were ruling about the same as last week. Best bullocks brought from L 7 15s to L 9 12s 6d ; an extra heavy pen of prime, LlO 2s 6d ; medium quality, L 5 10s to L 7 5s ; inferior, LS 2s 6d to L 5. Prime cows, L 6 15s to L 8 ; inferior to medium, L 3 to L 6 ss.

Pat Calves—Ten were penned, but ] were passed in unsold. Fat Shtep— An exceptionally large supply was penned, viz., 4108, and the market was abont |he quietest expert*: enced for a long time past. A reduction of fnHy 2a to 2s 6d had to be accepted before sales were effected. It is unnecessary almost to say thnt the trade will bare stocks on band sufficient for at least to last over next week. The lot panned today comprised 3308 crossbrrde, and the remainder mrrinos. Prime crossbred wethers brought from lQs to lis 3d j medium, 6s to 8s 9d j crossbred ewes, prime, 7s 9d to 9s ; inferior to medium, 3s to 7s 6d (an extra heavy pen lis 3d) ; merino wethers, 3s 6d to ss.—L. Maclean sold fot Mr M. Studholme (Waimate Estate), 132 crossbred ewes trom 4* 9'd to 5s ; for Mr James Harper (Makikihi), 197 crossbred ewes «t §s to f}s 5 apd for J, Paterson (South Canterbury), 145 crpssbred wethers at 9s 6d to 10* 9d. Donald Reid and Of. sold fc-r Mr A. Hayes (Waimate), 155 crossbredfi at 7i to 8s 9d, 60 merinos at i 4s. Wright, Stephonsrn. and Co. sold for Mr Walter Hannell (Hahain), 278 merino wether's at from 4s 3d to $s 9,d. Fat Lambs —Ihe supply consisted'of 445 of fair to good quality. The prices wrre—for the bi-ai, 5s to 7s ; others, 3s Ud to 4s 6d.

Maclean sold for Mr James M'Donald (Wasbdyke), 58 heavy weight baconers at from 25s to 595. Horses—Wright, Stephenson, and Co. quote first-class draughts at from L24t0L30; medium, Ll 6 to L2O ; light and aged, LlO to Ll 4 ; first-class hacks and light-harness horses, LI 6 to L2O ; medium, LlO to Ll2, light and inferior, L2 to L 7. DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday r—■ Wheat—Prices have further improved by 2d to 3d per bushel since last report. From statistics of the supplies available for Australia it is evident that New Zealand must contribute to a very large extent to their requirements, and prices mnst unquestionably keep firm here. Prime velvet and Tuscan are quoted at 4s 4d to 4s 6d ; ordinary, 4s to 4s 3d ; prime red straw, 4s 3d to 4s 4d ; medium do, 4s to 4s 2d; inierior milling, 3s 9d to 3s lid ; fowl wheat, 2b lOd to 3s 6d, ex store. Oats—There has been a good demand for all descriptions during the week, and in the absence of many consignments coming to bond prices have improved by Id to 2d per bushel, and still have n hardening tendency. The quotations are—for extra che'ee stout bright milling, 2s 4d to 2s sd, but of this description few lots are offering ; ordinary milling, 2s 3d ; heavy bright feed, 2s Id to 2s colored, Is 9d to is lid.

Barley—TVre is no demand for malting parce's, and the quotations are 2s 9d to 3s, while 2s 6d may be quoted for milling, nnd teed 2s to 2s 3d, with a iimitfd enquiry. Chnff—good quality of oaten sheaf L 8 15s, *nd exceptionally good, L 4 ; ordinary, L 3 10s. Potatoes Derwents at L 3 s>«. Kidneys are quiet at L 4. Grass Seed—Nothing doing.

Butter—Fresh is not so active, price Is for prime. Salt, dull at 9d to 9£d. Eggs—Prices irregular, and inclined to drop. Turnips—Quiet at 21b. Carrots—4os per toa.

Sbeppskinp—Country dry croßsbreds, low to medium, brought 9d to 2s 9d ; do do merino, «d to 2s 8d ; dry pelts, to 3£d ; green crossbreds, from Is 9J to 3s Id; do merino, from Is 8d to Is lCd ; lambskins, from 2s 2d to 2s 3d.

Tallow —Inferior ] 3s to 16s; medium, 17s to 19s ; prime mutton, 20s to 21s ; and rough fat, 8s to 12b 6d per cwt. Hides—Bulls and inferior, 2d to light, 3d to 3£i; medium, 3£d to 8fl; heavy, in prime condition, 4d to per lb.

ENGLISH MARKETS.

London, June 16.

The third series of colonial wool mictions open«d to-day, before a large attrndanca of Homo und foreign buyers. The catalogue comprised 12,000 bales, one third being New Zealand and one» third New k S>ath Wales wool, for which good competition was manifested, chiefly on foreign account. At the close of the sale scoured wools ruled 3d, greasy fully 2d, and crossbred £d per lb higher than at the close of the previous auctions. The present series of auctions close on the 29th prox.
