THE KIMBERLEY GOLDFIELD.
Over fifty miners met at Dunedin on {Saturday and discussed plans for getting to Kimberley. There was considerable Indignation expressed at the Hero being withdrawn from the berth. No decision was come to.
A number of Wellington people are making arrangements to leave for Kimberley, and will probably sail in the barque Carnarvon Castle, on the 14th Inst. Some of the country residents who went to Wellington prepared to go to Kimberley, express indignation at the Hero being taken off the berth. It was on the strength of receiving telegrams from the Wellington agent of the Union Company that the people had brought their horses, etc., into town, but only to find that the Steamer was not go<ng, and that they had to provide accommodation for the Stock.
Among the Timaru residents who proKose to start for Kimberley shortly are tr T. Q. Rowley, gunsmith, who proposes to open a branch business, and Mr Joseph Lukey who takes over a number of horses and a stage coach for his brother.
