AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. OBBALDINE. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report sales for the weekending Saturday, 22nd May, 1886 ;-rOn Wednesday at the Geraldine Yards we held our quarterly sale of horses. There w«B a large entry of horses, and for anything like a good stamp of draughts good paying prices were given, ranging from £l3 15s to £2O. Hacks and lightharness horses bad to sell at and price. On Thursday at the South Canterbury Saleyardf there was a ftj small entry of

slock, especially of sheep, and prices for eucii 'ots as changed hands were exceedingly low. On Friday and Saturday «’e sold on account of Mr Glass, Geraldine, his stock of general drapery, every lot b°ing disposed of at prices fully up to the cash value of the goods, there being a large attendance of buyers. */e wUh to draw attention to a large clearing sale of stock and plant on account of Mr Thomas Wadsworth, at Orari, on Wednesday, m the stock is exceptionally good. TISCARtT. Mr D. Maclean (for Messrs James A. Qracie and Co.) reports for tho week ending Saturday as follows ; Horses—At the Timaru Horse Bazaar to-day our entry comprised 44 head, conlisting principally of superior draughts and hunters. Our sales were 28 head ; for beat draughts we quote £lB to £93; medium, £l2 to £l6 10s ; hacks, medium tojgood, £8 to £l4 10s ; light and inferior, £2 to £6. Caltle—At Washdyke Yards on Thursday there were a few pens of prime to medium bullocks, but the demand being limited most of them were turned out unsold. We disposed of a small line at from £4 10s toj£6, and privately during (he week we sold 65 head prime quality steers and heifers. Cows in milk and calving we placed at from £4 2s 6d to £5 2s fid. ' Sheep—The entry at Washdyke this week was under the average, both in fat and stores, and very little business was done. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Adelaide, May 20. Wheat is firm at 4s 7d to 4s Bd. Other produce is without change. Sydney, May 21, Maize shows an improvement, and oats hsve declined Id per bushel. Today’s quotations are—New Zealand wheat, 4s Id per bushel ; New Zealand oats, 2s 5d per bushel; maize, 561bs, 3s fid. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, May 21. At the monthly hide auctions held yesterday the demand was only limited, and prices are below last sales. Colonial breadstuff's—Adelaide wheat, ex store, is worth 36s ; nominal values of cargoes direct for London are 34s lod ; colonial shipments await buyers. Adelaide flour, ex store, 28s to 345, according to grade. The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,970,000 being JU.OOO quarters than was reported last Friday, Australian tallow Fair ayerage quality beef, 33s ; mutton, 24s fid per cwt.
