DUNEDIN RACES. The Birthday meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club commenced on Saturday last, the attendance of spectators being moderate. The weather was splendid. The following are the results ; Selling Hurdle Race, of 80 sova; second horse 10 sova ; miles,—Mr J. W. Cotton's Mayboy, 1; Mr T. Foster’s Rocket, 2; Mr J, Stephenson’s Peter Flat, 3. Time—3min 15£sec. Dividends —£ll2s and £1 lls 6d. Maiden Plate, of 50sovs; miles.— Mr M, J. Mitchell’s Cathedral, 1; Messrs M. and C. Hobbs’s Moody, 2; Mr H. Good man’s Teddy, 3. Canezan, Dearfoot, Dutchman, Shamrock, Andy and Sweetbriar also ran. Time—2min 29£ sec. Dividends—£l3 14s and £l6 12s. Provincial Handicap, of 200 sovs, with u sweep of 6 sovs ; second horse 30 sovs from the stake ; one mile and a half. —Mr G. G. Stead’s Marion, 1; Mr A. Hathorn’s Take Miss, 2; Mr J. River’s Don Jose, 3. Hermitage, Quibble, and Epicure also started. Time—2min 50sec, Dividends —£3 4s and £2 19s. Handicap Trot, of 75 sovs ; three miles.—Mr D. O’Brien’s Erin (65sec), 1; Mr Taylor’s Narrow Gauge (50sec), 2 ; Mr Stewart’s Polly (50sec), 3. Seventeen started. Won by two lengths. Time—lOmin £ 3'l7s and £3 14s.
