DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS.

At tlic Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted : Fat Cattle.—l 92 head were yarded at Burnside to-day. Excepting perhaps half-a-doz’*n pens of prime beef, the supply generally was medium quality, and mostly light weight. There was a fair demand tor the best lots. Half-fut and medium were dull at prices a shade less than last week. Bullocks sold at £4 to £9 ; cows, £217« 6d to £6 10s. —Donald Reid and Co. sold for Mr A. Hayes (Waimate), 8 bullocks to £5 15s, 13 heifers to £4 17s 6d, Fat Sheep,—There were only 1099 penned to-day for the week’s supply, which included 220 useful merino wethers, the rest nearly all crossbred ewes. There was a slight advance in values, say 6d to Is, over last week’s ruling rates. Crossbreds fetched 5s 6d to 10*; one pen of extra heavy Lincolns, lie fid; merinos, 4s to 6s 6d.— Wright, Stephenson, and Co., sold for Mr John Douglas (Waiho Downs). 20 prime crossbred wethers (heavy weights) at lls 9d, 60 crossbred ewes at Bs, and 32 quarter-back wethers at 7s 3d.—L, McLean sold for Mr M. Stndnolma (Waimate Estate), 128 crossbred ewes at from 6s 6d to 7s fid . Fat Lambs—236 were forward, all well grown and in fair condition. Prices all round were higher than at last week’s sale, and ranged from 5* to 7* Gd. Pigs—The yards wers well filled, 298 being yarded, ranging from small suckers to prime bacon pigs. There was a poor demand prices again ruling low. Bacon pigs sold at 27s 6d to 44s ; porkers, 18s to 26s ; stores, 9s to 15s ; suckers, 2s 6d to 7s. Horse Market—Wright, Stephenson and Co. report as follows : Last Saturday’s sale brought forward a very heavy supply of horses—over 12U being yarded, fully one-half of which were fresh country horses. For strong heavy young draughts thrre was a spirited demand, hut medium and lighter sorta are difficult to move. We sold in all 75 head, and quote first-class draughts at from L 27 to L 33 ; medium', Ll 6 to L 22 ; good hacks and light-harness horses, Ll2 to LlB ; medium, L 6 to LlO ; light and inferior, LI loi to L 5.
