TIMARU,
AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT.
Messrs Jonas and Bourn report for the week ending Saturday as follows : Business in all kinds of stock never was duller than at the present time. Harvest is now in full swing, and, to a certain extent, has affected the stock market, and the very low price of sheep now ruling seems to haye clqsed the door to all apculation in this class. Country sales during the week have been but poorly attended, and the entries of stock have been light. The following are their transactions ;
Washdyke Sale Yards—The usual fortnightly sale was held at this place on Thursday, 11th inst. The attendance was small and it was difficult to do business even at exceedingly low prices. Butchers seeip tq be indifferent about buying, and good quality and low prices will not tempt them, as they are principally supplied bygrowers. Theyreportthe sale of 42 fat hoggets at 7s l|d, 300 old crossbred ewes at 3s 6d, 4 fat heifers at £5 2s <sd, 3 fat cows at £5, 2 fat heifers, young and small, at £3 10s, 4 dry cows £2 5s to £3 10s. The sale throughout was the dullest ever held in these yards. Horses—They held their usual sale at their Bazaar to-day. The entry was smaller than usual, the attendance was good, but the demand limited. They sold exactly half of those entered at quotations. They quote heavy draughts, £lB to £2O, medium do, £l2 to £l7, light and fair horses, £8 10s to £l4, hacks, from £5 to £25, according to breeding, stamp, and description.
AUSTRALIAN MARKETS,
Sydney, Feb. 11, New Zealand wheat is quoted at Ss 3d per bushel ; New Zealand oats, 2s
4d ; maize (561)?), 3s 34. Sugar maintains its p'■•vinua quotation.

The flour market is depressed, and 1 here are large country supplies in stuck. The wheat market is steadier, hut relm-s are unchanged. Shipments ex warehouse are quoted at 86s. There is no record of any forward business in Australian cargoes.
The wool sales have concluded, and the bidding was somewhat spiritless. The sales showed an average decline of from half-penny to one penny on the prices realised at tbs December sales. The number of bales catalogued was 224.000 bales, of which number 24,000 were reserved for export, including 12.000 for America.
