MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD .

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board was held in the Road Board office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 15th inst. Present—The Hon. J. B. A. Acland (Chairman), Messrs R. Mackay, C. G. Tripp, G. J. Oenniatoun, and R. Tbew. TENDERS. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read and considered : From the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Christchurch, in reference to a grant of land on the Opihi River, stating that the area applied for included gravel reserve No. 2359. He proposed issuing a license to occupy the unappropriated portion, and would recommend the Government to vest the reserve in the Board,—The course proposed was considered satisfactory. From the Census Enumerator, Timaru, asking to be supplied with a copy of the district map,—The Clerk informed the Board that he had replied, stating that there were no copies of the map available. From Mr W. Ashby, requesting the Board to clear the stones off the road leading to his land in the Orari Gorge,— The Overseer stated that the work was being attended to. From the Union Bank of Australis, Timaru, requesting instructions re the Board’s matured deposits. Resolved : “ That they be renewed for a further period of 12 months.” From the Geraldine Council, askieg for a copy of th® resolution of the proposal to strike a rate, and the resolution striking the rate for the year ending Slst March.—The Clerk was directed to supply a copy of the resolutions asked for. From Mr Tripp, requesting permission to place gates across roads running through bis property.—Permission was granted, subject to the conditions of the Road Board Act being complied with. SUSPENSION OP WORK. Resolved—“ That all day labor under the Board be suspended for two months during harvest.” ACCOUNTS. After passing accounts to the amount of £54 5s 6d the Board adjourned.
