ASHBUETON WOOL SALES,
The third of a series of wool sales were held in Ashburton on Thursday, when Messre Matson, Cox, and Co., Messrs Miles and Co. (in conjunction with Mr G. Jameson), and Messrs R. Wilkin and Co. (in conjunction with Messrs Friedlander Bros)., severally submitted a large quantity of various classes of wool. There was a good attendance of buyers, and a large number of the lots submitted were quitted at satisfactory prices. Messrs Matson, Cox and Co. sold first class wool at 6fd op to 7f d ; Becond cross do, 6£d to 7d ; and longwool at 5d to 6d per lb. Prices offering for merino wool not being considered satisfactory, a good deal of it was withdrawn, ENGLISH MABJTETS. London, Jan. 2. The "wheat market is stagnant, Ex warehouse is quoted at 375. No sales are reported in off-coast cargoes. Shippers of the new crop are waiting for higher prices. The flour market ia unchanged.
