AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT.

TIMARU.

Messrs Jonas and Bourn report for the past week ending Saturday at follows ; A fair amount of business has been done during the week, and although they cannot quote any advance in price of any particular kind of stock, they can report fair competition for all offered at full market rates.

Horses -They report a small number of entries to-day, the majority of which were of light description. The aale was fairly attended, and a few of the horses found purchasers at quotations. There are enquiries for a few medium and heavy draughts. They quote heavy draught mare* and geldings from £lB to £25 ; medium and active draughts suitable for axportation, from £9 to £l9 ; superior hacks, £ls to £22; inferior and light hacks and harness horses, from £5 to £9.

CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS.

In consequence of Wednesday, the usual market day, being Anniversary Day, the market was held on Tuesday, A large number of nil kinds of stock were yarded, and the attendance of buyers was quite up to the average, but business throughout the day was almost without exception dull and lifeless. A very largo entry of fat cattle was offered, of all kinds of quality; the demand was but a poor one, most lots, however, were, sold, but at low values. A feature of the sale wns a lino of exceptionally fine steers and heifers, which sold as follows : Steers, from £8 10s to £l4 ; heifers from, £8 6s to £lO 10a; other sales, steers from £6 to £9 10s; heifers, £5 12a 6d to £7 15s, being from 17s to 20s per lOOlbs, as per quality. A more than an average entry of sheep yarded of various degiees of quality. The demand wa* very inactive, and contimed entirely to local requirements. Values suffered to a large extent. Crossbred wethers sold at from 8s 6d to 12s 6d ; do ewea, 6s 6d to 9s 9d ; merino wethers, 6s to 6s 9<l ; and a small pen of grand merino wethers *old at 17s 6d per head. A large entry of fat lambs penned, prices ranging from 5s to 7s 6d par head. In the store cattle market a moderate entry of stock waa yarded ;• demand a fair one : clearances being made at late rates. Dairy stock low in value. In the store sheep market a few lines of young sheep yarded ; demand dull. Hoggets and two-tooths at from 5s 6d to 8s 6d per hesd.

AUSTRALIAN MARKETS.

Meliodrnb, Dec. 12. There was the usual large attendance of buyers at the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company’s weekly *ale to-day. Competition is on the increase, and the market generally is firmer. For crossbred wools there was a very active demand. A brisk demand was experienced for all fine goodconditioned wool. The highest price obtained was for 68 bales of first and second combing from the western district of Victoria, while 14 bales of crossbred from the same district realised 1 Id. Greasy merino sold up to 10|d. There were no representative parcels of scoured fleece wools or washed fleeces offered. The market for these descriptions is without change.

ENGLISH MARKETS.

Loudon, Dec. 14. There has been a further advance in the prices of wheat. Adelaide wheat ej store is quoted at 39b ; ditto off coast, 89s. New Zealand wheat ex store, 28s to S7s per 496ibs, according to grade. HollowAz’s PILIS.—The sadden change* frequent fogs, and prevading dampness sorely impede* the vital functions and conduce to illhealth.
