A MAN WITH BULLET IN HIS BRAIN.

Some months ago a youth named Gsorga ! Massey, aged 19, employed as a olerk in the offiae of a lolioitor, London, wac found lying upon the floor of the office shot through the head, with a recently-discharged revolver! i lying by his tide. He was removtd to St. I Bartholomew's Hospital, and it was there found that the bullet had entered the skull i and lodged in the centre of the brain, there ; bsing a teirible wound in the forehead. He ! »r»i unccmsoious and apparently in a dying I state. The home aurgeon on examiDg him, expressed an opinion that the oaie was hopeleu, and that the sufferer eould scarcely ba expected to survive very long, Subsequently, however, several ifforts wore made to extract the bullet, but without success, and then to the astonishment of the medical staff the patient within a few dayi regained consciousness and btgan to reoover. In spite of this, however, the surgeons were unwilling to believe that the patient could ever completely reoover, but they nevertheless watched the case with increasing interest, and adopted every possible means to prevent a fatal termination. Within a fortnight of the occurrence the patient had progressed so fair that he was | removed 'from the accident ward. He oould then speak in a rational mnnnosf and was in no pain. Renewed efforts were made to extraot the bullet, but they were unsuccessful, and the attempt was givun up when it was seen that the patient mads rapid progress. The youth has now been die* charged from the hospital as convalescent, but the bullet still remains embedded in the centre of the brain, and the medical men have abandoned all hope of being able to axtricate it. * ■
