Of late there has been an improved demand for the better class,> andfor mares in particular for breeding purposes, the export of such a large number [as 1 has been sent to Australia having;had a very appreciable, effect on the market here, and now anything really good seldom passes the actioneer unsold if only a fair price is expected. For , cheap hacks as usual at this time of the year there has been a better sale. They have sold draught mates and geldings at from £l6 to £25, light horses from £9 to £l4, backs from £5 up to £l6. ASHBURTON LIVE STOCK MARKET. Mr E, G. Stareley (for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports on the Ashburton Market of October £?th, as follows : ’ . , 5000 sheep were entered,- antHhere was a moderate entry of cattle.
