MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of this Board was held in the Board's Office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 21st November. p resen t —The Hon. J. B. A. Aclaud (Chairman), Messrs C. G. Tripp, K. Mackny, G. J. Dennistouu, and A. Hawdon. MINOTES. Tim minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. RETURN OF A MEMBER. Mr Tripp expressed the pleasure he felt in again being at the meetings of the Boerd, and thanked them for the extended leave of absence granted to him during his visit to England. TENDERS. The following tenders we.a opened ■ind considered : Contract No. 27—Breaking Metal— M. Birtlett (informal) ; Hamuioit-l and Flatman, £350 (upon condition that the Board pay the cost of repairs should any damage occur to the main shaft of the stone crusher); Thomas Blair, £350 (accepted). Contract No. 28—Shingling Gndex'.H Road—Daniel Gnldan, £9O; N. P. Bracetield, £BS ; Eugene O'Connor, £79 ; Patrick Burke, £74 (accepted). CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read and considered : From the Geraldine Road Board, (hanking the Board for the use of their stone crusher, and stating that they had obtained a set of new j-nv sections, which they were prepared to hand over to the Board, and hoping they would pay half cost of the same.—Resolved—" That the Board accept the proposal." From Messrs White and Smithson, in reference to the conveyance of the road line to the Opuha Bridge. From the poundkeeper, Peel Forest, requesting that new cattle troughs be erected in the pound, as the present ones were quite rotten. —The Overseer was instructed to have concrete tioughs built ; also, to write io Messrs Maslin and Co., Oliristchurch, asking for the prospectus of the Asphalte Company left by Mr Tripp. INTERVIEW. Mr Flatmau hai an interview with the Board in reference to stopping the road between sections 3309 and 1372 in Peel Forest.—Resolved—"That the consideration of the matter be deferred till the next meeting of the Board." INSTRUCTIONS TO CLERK. The Clerk was directed to give Mr Walters notice to remove the firewood from off the road on the embankment in Peel Forest; to put in a concrete groin in Lynn .River when the water is low enough to admit of its being done ; to furnish full particulars by next Board day of all circumstances connected with planting reserve 1859 at Sherwood Downs, and write to the Chairman of the Canterbury Plantation Board asking if they would refund the money expended in planting the same ; to write to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, asking if any decision had been arrived at with reference to the Board's application for a grant of a piece of land on the Opihi River, under the Forest Tree Planting Encouragement Act; to write to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, requesting to be furnished with a correct tracing of the boundaries of sections 1345, 832, and reserve 1903, as a question has arisen as to the position of the road line at the corners of these sections. ROAD LINES. Resolved—" That the necessary steps be taken for having the various alterations of road lines throughout the district p/operly adjusted, in conformity with the Public "Works Act." OVERSEER'S REPORT.
The Overseer's report was read and considered, aud it whs resolved—" That the Overseer have the place at the corner of Raddon'a section, Raincliff, repaired, and lhat he report upon the Main Road in Peel Forest."
ACCOUNTS. After passing accounts to the amount of £l9B, the Board adjourned.
