ACCIDENTS, OFFENCES, ETC. Frank Carr, a clerk, was on Fridaylast committed for trial on three charges of embezzlement of moneys from hts employer, John Anderson, a cabinet maker, Wanganui. ’ Four other charges were dealt with summarily, the accused receiving iu one case one month, and in another case two months’ imprisonment, the others being dismissed. A servant girl named Fanny Beddington was arrested at Blenheim on Friday, on a charge of infanticide, her newlyborn infant being found dead in an outbuilding. The girl has been removed to the hospital. The inquest resulted in an open verdict, death resulting from hemorrhage. The mother, Fanny Boddington, a girl of 16, remains in custody at the hospital, admitted to her employer the parentage of the infant, and that she put it down the closet. A young man nsraed Evans was drowned at the Northcote wharf, Auckland, on Saturday. At the Supreme Court, Auckland, on Saturday, Michael Kirby, for attempted arson, was sentenced to five years, and John Groghan, hotelkeeper, Mongonui, for perjury, arising out of a Sunday--1 trading esse also got fire years*
