RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

TEM.ITKA— Monday, June 2, 1884.

[Before S. D, Barker and J. Talbot Esqs., J.Ps.] crvn cases.

J. Brown v. Williams —Claim £2B. Judgment gammons,—Ordered to pay within seven days or go to gaol for one month.

J. M. Twomey y. Kudarr—Claim £1 178, adrertising and printing. —Judgment by default for the amount claimed and coats.

J. M. Twomey r. J. F. McFadyen (Carry Nelson Tronpe)—Claim £3 Is, —Judgment by default for the amount claimed and costs. Immediate execution was"granted in both cases.

Mr Twomey-wished to bring under the notice of the Court th§ fact that the case* had been set down for hearing on the previous Monday, which was the day on which the Resident Magistrate ought to have attended. As was the case very frequently on previous occasions the Resident Magistrate neglecttd to ' attend, and the consequence was the defendants were now gont away. He ; had not the slightest knowledge of the whereabouts of the defendant in either case, and he was afraid he would neTer - get his money. The Resident Magistrate was paid for attending, and it it as father hard that people should lose their t money because of his negligence. The Bench said they could do nothing ' in the matter.

Mr Twomey said he only wished to bring the matter under the notice of the Court.

Peter Coira v. J. F. McFadyen (Carry Nelson Troupe)—Claim £3 10s, rent of hall.—Judgment by cefault for amount claimed costs.

W. Essery ▼. J. H. Parsons—Claim £1 9s lid, goods supplied. Th* defendant pleaded bankruptcy, but as he had not put in a notice in writing of it, judgment was given for the amount claimed and costß. The Court tben adjourned.
