Thb Oddeblxows' Haii, Gebaidine.— Judgding from the overcrowded state of the Oddfellows' Hall, Geraldine, during the concert on Monday evening last, it is patent to all that the hall is far too small for the present requirements of the community, and we understand an effort will shortly be made to add two anterooms to the front, bringing the building flush with the footpath and adding to the depth at the back. If this were effected a considerable amount of seating room will be added, and greater comfort attained byj those frequenting the hall. '

Notice was received from the Board of the payment of the second quarter's incidental grant. A circular was received from the same, stating that on wet days it is the duty of teachers to instruct those children that do attend, no matter how few they be. The teacher reported the average attendance for the month to have been : boys, 19.2 ; girls, 20.8. Total 40. A letter was receded from Mr May, stating that the organ had been tuned and regulated, at a cost of 255, most of which came from a collection kindly given by the Rev. J. Preston. A letter was received from Mr A. Griffiths, asking if the Committee would allow the use of the schoolroom for a dancing class, and on what terms. Mr Bisset proposed, and Mr Binskin seconded —" That the request be granted on the same terms as last year." As an amendment, it was proposed by Mr Stewart, seconded by Mr Bates, and carried—- " That the request be not entertained." A copy of Mr Steward's Bill, " An Act to Regulate the Election of School Committees," was read and considwed, the Committee approving of it with the exception of Section 8, which enables any district to exercise its option in the matter of cumulative voting. They also took exception to part of Clause 17, which allows a 'lodger' to vote as a 'householder.' They did not sign the petition to the Legislative Assembly, feeling such an extreme course te bo unnecessary, though on the whole the proposed changes met with their approval. The visitor, Mr Binskin, reported satisfactorily on the conduct of the school, and recommended that a few loads of shingle be spread at the front gates and on the ground where the gymnastic apparatus is placed. Resolved—" That the shingling be done, and Mr McLeod be visitor for the next month." The meeting then adjourned till the third Monday in June.
