AUSTRALIAN MARKETS.

Melbourne, May 13. The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand (Limited) reports of the grain market as follows : Wheat, 4s 3d to 4s 4d, market quiet ; malting barley is in fair demand at 4s 3d to 4s 9d ; New Zealand oats, feeding sorts, are steady at 2» lOd to 3s ; milling do are firm at 3s 2d to 3s 3d ; New Zealand oats under bond, 2s 7d to 2s 9d, market steady but not active. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, May 19. Adelaide wheat, ex granary, is to-day quoted at 41s, a decline of sixpence ; New Zealand wheat, ex store, remains at 35s to 40s ; Adelaide flour, ex store, 28s. Australian bee' tallow, average quality, 36s ; mutton, 395. At to day's wool auction a firm tone prevailed. The catalogue comprised 12,400 bales. Greasy merinos were mling rather dearer,'and crossbreds also rather higher. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable from London, dated 17th May, 1884 : Wool—The sales progress firmly. Competition by both home and foreign buyers is active. Up to date 156,000 bales have been sold. Tallow—Australian mutton-tallow has declined 6d per cwt. since last report.
