THE SILVER WEDDING AT BERLIN.

The Berlin correspondents telegraphs elaborate reports of the Silver Wedding festivities. Berlin was en fete, and in the evening there was a banquet at the Palace, at which tho Prince of Wales the Duke of Edinburgh, the Crown Prince of Austria, the Grand Duke Vladimir, and the other distinguished personages now visiting the capital were present. The festivities culminated in a grand costume ball, given in the White Saloon of the Old Schloss, or Royal Castle of Berlin. This pageant was carried out with extraordinary magnificence. The Standard correspondent says:— At nine o'clock the Empress, accom - panied by the Crown Prince and Crown Princess, and attired in the highest state, entered and took their seats upon tho throne. Meanwhile the triple profession which wag composed of numerous princes and princesses of the Prussian royal house and related families,.and the chief members of the Court, assembled in the Piture Gallery and adjoining approaches. The first to enter the White Saloon was the so-called German procession, or procession of the Emperor Frederick 111., who ruled over the German Empire in the latter part of the fifteenth century ; the second division of the procession consisted of the ' Konigin Minne,' or Queen of Love, and her attendant train, while the third section was the English procession, representing Queen Elizabeth at the height of her glory, and attended by a splendid retinue. The choice of fifteenth and sixteenth century characters for representation in the procession was dictated by the fact that the era presented unequalled opportunities for the display of gorgeous costumes.'
