Tsmuka Leader Office, Friday evening. The past week has been no improve- - ment on the former, so far as prices of giain are concerned. Wheat is less in value, 3s 6d being only obtained with difficulty for primest of samples. Barley is almost unsaleable at any price, as brewers’hands are full. Oats are held higher for various sorts ; indeed the present is the duih st in the grain season we have experienced for years. Potatoes are low in price, although not much in the market, 60s per ton being the highest price named. Dairy produce, howeer,A is considerably higher, and will doubtless con.inue to advance as the season wears on During the week numerous safes have taken place ;K. F. Gray held a sale of furniture last Saturday, * the ‘ attendance being good, and prices brisk ; the same auctioneer also sold a lot of live stock and furniture on Thursday last at fair prices.. During the week the auction sales at the Ram Fair came off 1 , but although the class of sheep was good, few were sold) and prices not up to the mark. Mr K. F. Gray has been able to place a section of 81 aoiesand cottage, in the —suburbs of Temutra at LIOOO cash down ; f the purchasers, we believe, were the Presbyterian Church Committee. The object, we are informed, is to erect a manse for their minister. The price is not considered high. The same gentleman also placed some sections in the Arowhenua Township at Ll 6 per |-acre ; also as joint trustee in the estate of Mr Harrop, he was able to dispose of the stock of drapery, groceries and ironmongery to Mr Wareing at 12s 6d per pound, as valued by the trustees. Timabu, Friday night. Over 1722 sack of grain were received at the Timarn railway station yesterday, and vessels bound for Home are loading as quickly as possible.. The wheat market d uring the past week has been over buoyant, but sales locally very dull, millers being pretty well supplied. Buyers are offering 3s 9d to 3s lOd, and for best parcels, 8s lid to 4s.
