Death of Dr. H. Christie Occurs at Wanganui

The death has occurred of Dr. Howard Henry Christie, Wanganui, a well lcnown medical practitioner. Dr. Christie was born at Patea and was a son of the late Mr. H. F. Christie, a former bank manager at Patea, who lived for many years at St. John's Hill. Dr. Christie was president of the Wanganui Collegiate School Old Boys Association from 1926 till 1928. He took his M.B., Ch.B., and M.D. degrees at Glasgow University and his F.R-C.S. at Edinburgh. In the war of 1914-18 he^ served in the New Zealand Medical Corps ' in Egypt with the rank of captain. Surviving Dr. Christie are his wife and two children. A son, Mr. N. H. G. Christie, is serving with the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in the Middle East, and a daughter, Mrs. Peter Markham, lives at Christchurch. There is one grandchild. For many years Dr. Christie was a member of the Wanganui Lawn Tennis Club and took a prominent part in the management of its affairs. He repiesented the club on the Wanganui Lawn Tennis Association for several years and was also a vice-president of the association. He gave a trophy, -the ChristieCup, for competition among the five minor associations in the southem part of the North Island.
