Bulk Milk Collection Unlikely in New Zealand

In the opinion of Mr. R. B. Tennent, Director of Primary Production, no scheme for the collection of milk by bulk lorries is practicable unless many small receiving depots or bulking stations are first established. In conveying this belief to the North Taranaki Council of Primary Production last night, Mr. Tennent stated that in countries where the bulk collection method had been adopted the milk was first taken by the farmers to bulking stations where the iridividual supply was weighed and sampled. Thus very little economy in cans and vehicles could be effected. For those reasons it was not proposed to introduce the scheme in New Zealand.
