See her lace so white and fine — Now in nineteen-twenty-nine Betty turns an ardent gaze On the girl of other days. "Great-great-Gran," she says, "to-day It's the match, and I'm to play; I'm so bucked, I've been (thank heaven!) Chosen for the school Eleven! If I'm in with Nan or Joan Won't it thrill me to the bone! Great-great-Granny, wish me luck! Did you ever make a duck?" Great-great-Granny's smile was bland But— she did not understand!
