EVENT AT NEW PLYMOUTH AUSTRALIAN CYCLISTS

Provided Pukekura Park is available on February 10, the New Plymouth Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club has agreed to accept the responsibility of holding the Taranaki track and field eients and cycling chartipionships. Three Australian cyclists of high repute are expected to visit New Zealand to take part in amateur athletics during the season from Ihe end of December. The New Plymouth club committee decided at a recent meeting to suggest to Stratford that as the inter-club meeting was to be held in that centre it should be asked to tane the visiting Australian cyclists on the same date. The question cf improving certain parts of the track at Pukekura Park v;as discussed :.nd it was suggested an irner cirele might be marked for training purposes in order to save the track pi oper. Acquisition of a junior shot and junior d:scus was referred to in correspondence, and the Boys' High School Club was advised they would be made available to members of the club but must be returned to the executive at the end of the season. The action of the chairman and secrelary in endeavouring to arrange for bldnk ammunition for starting purposes at sports meetings was approved. Some suggestions were received from an interested spectator for improvements m the programmes of the veekly meetings These will be given careful consireration and acted upon wherever possible
