' ' ^ PRICES AT STRATFORD A sharp rise in the price of produce was reported at Stratford yesterday. First grade factory butter was quoted at Is 6d and ls 7d, 2d and 3d on last week. Dairy butter was quoted at ls 4d, compared with ls 2d the previous week. An increase of ld per pound in the price of cheese was also quoted. Eggs have also risen, and are now ls 8d and ls 6d, compared with ls 6d and ls 4d last week. Hothouse tomatoes show a decrease of 2d per pound and are now realising ls 6d per povmd. Rhubarb has made its appearance and is priced at ls per large bundle. Cucumbers were quoted at 6d and ls, and beans 8d and lOd per pound. Green peas are now more plentiful and are 6d per poimd, a drop of 3d on last week's price. In the poultry world young cockerels were quoted at 2d to 4d, ducks 2s 3d to 5s and hens 2s 9d to 3s 8d. Gobblers realised 12s 6d to .15s 9d. Roosters brought 3s to 3s 3d. Prices yesterday were:— Fruit: Apples, best grades, 4d, 5d and 6d lb; oranges,. 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 for ls; bananas, 6d and 4d lb; lemons, .6 and 8 for ls; pears, 4d and 6d lb; pineapples, ls 6d to 2s; grapes, ls 6d lb; hothouse tomatoes, ls 6d lb; rhubarb, ls large bundle. Vegetables: Kumeras, 41b for ls; onions, 41b for ls; potatoes, .7 and 81bs for ls; new potatoes, 51bs for ls; lettuce, 2d to 4d; beetroot, 3d; parsnips, 3d lb; carrots, 3d lb; leeks, 3d; cabbages, 3d to 6d; cauliflowers, 9d to ls 6d each; green peas, 6 d lb; cucumbers, 6d to lld; beans, 8d to lOd lb.
