"Tropic Holiday."
A youn;' writer goes to Mexico in search of romance and finds more of it than he expects in "Tropic Holiday." Ray Milland is the adventure-seeking writer, while Dorothy Lamour is the girl who makes him forget that any part .of the world still exists north of the Rio Grande. Others with important parts in the story include Bob Burns, Martha Raye and Binnie Barnes. Six new songs have been written especially for the picture by Augustin Lara, the "Irving Berlin of Mexico." Among them are "The Lamp on the Corner," "Tropic Night," "To-night Will Live" and "My First Love." "Hollywood Hotel." Dick Powell, assisted by a brilliant cast of artists from stage, screen and radio, appears in the musical film "Hollywood Hotel," which concerns the experiences of a small town youth who gets a contract at Hollywood: He loses his job but he finds a pal. One of the most famous dance music combinations in America, Benny Goodman and his swing band, is heard in a number of tuneful melodies. These include "Let That Be a Lesson to You," "I've Hitched My Waggon to a Star" and "Silhouetted in the Moonlight.". Rosemary Lane, Hugh Herbert, Glenda Farrell and Alan Mow--bray are also prominently cast.
