POPULAR PROGRAMME
VOCAL AND ORCHESTRAL NEW PLYMOUTH RECITAL There was a large and appreciative audience when a programme of vocal and instrumental items was presented in the Workers* Social Hall at New Plymouth last night. A feature of the first half of the programme was the piano solos of 10-year-old Pamela Thompson, 9-year-old Patricia Woofflndin and Elizabeth Woodward, aged 11 ' years. I The singing of Misses Joan Burrell, Joan Rundle, Billy Fleming, Kathleen McPhillips, Lucy Knight, Gay Reader, Valerie Smith, Doris Walker and Jean McNeill was finished, and their performances gave pleasure. The vocpl trio, Misses D. Walker, E. Crawshaw and Mrs. Mason, gave an artistic interpretation of "Lullaby," by C. Scott, while Victor Woodward scored a decided hit with a group of three songs. While the' second part of the programme was mainly instrumental, Mr. W. Watters and Mrs. E. L. Mason sang solos, which were well received. The songs by the vocal quartet were well balanced and thoroughly deserved the plaudits of the large crowd.
