VICTORY BALL HELD
OHURA LABOUR BRANCH
MANY VISITORS PRESENT The Ohura branch of the Labour Party held, a victory ball in the Plaza Theatre last week- The ball was well attended, visitors being present from all paris of the district, including Tokirima, Taumarunui, Matiere and Nihoniho. The hall was decorated for the occasion with red streamers and coloured balloons. Mr. J. Malcolm was master of ceremonies. A Monte Carlo was won by Mrs. E. Flavell and Mr. Kerry and a spot waltz by Miss J. Inglis and Mr. O. Olliver. A statue Log Cahin was won by Miss P. Martin and Mr. I. Watts. Among those present were Mesdames C. O. Burton (white satin), S. Stevenson (green floral), R. Bell (black), Coldstream' (red satin), Millar (gold taffetas), D. Bowling Season Opens. The Ohura Bowling Club held its opening day in glorious weather at the week-end. . The green, which was relaid during the winter, was in splendid order. Visiting bowlers and their wives were present from the Taumarunui Bowling Club and were welcomed by' the president, Mr. A. Wakeford, who said that visiting bowlers and members of the club would appreciate the marked improvement in the green this season. He complimented Mr. R. Cameron, greenkeeper, and Mr. Kallil, who were niainly responsible for the carrying out of the work. Mrs. Wakeford rolled the first jack. Mr. J. L.; Green, a teacher under the London Couiity Council, who is spending twelve monflis in New Zealand on exchange, visited the Ohura District High School on Tuesday.
