HAWERA TRACK WORK

TRAINING YESTERDAY The course proper , and the plough were availa'ble for fast work at Hawera yesterday morning, both tracks being in good order. Prime Quality (Chaplin) over three furlongs. run in 38 3-5s. The former could have improved considerably on this time and worked impressively.. . • Silver Gift (Sexton); after running the first two in. 24Js, completed five furlongs ■ in lm 4s, Over the same ground Naughty . Marietta (Ryan) required lm 6s. Judgment ' (Sexton) and Filbert' (Ryan) ran half a mile on.the course proper. in 50 4-5s. The former, who is a. ..very well grown three-year-old, has done very little fast work, but promises to ha more than useful later on. Carmody (Farland) appeared to have a little in reserve when running half a mile on the trial grass with Race Away (Fryer) in 51 3-5s. » Lord Cavendish was given light work.' He looks a better horse now than at any .previous stage of his career. Gold Glare, who spoilt his chances at Feilding by faiiing to begin smartly, was given useful work. He is in great order at present and should soon make amends for his recent failures.
