"ALEXANDER'S RAGTIME BAND."
STATE THEATRE TO-DAY. Many remarkable musical films have been produced during the past two or three years, but few can compare with "Alexander's Ragtime Band," 20th Century Fox road show attraction, which will commence an extended season run from to-day at the State Theatre. The film is used as a means of introducing to the audience 25 melodies written by Irving Berlin during the last 25 years. Most of these songs are presented by beautiful Alice Faye and fit into the story very exactly. Tyrone Power and Don Ameche, the two actors who appeared with Miss Faye in "In Old Chicago," are the other principals of the film. "Alexander's Ragtime Band" tells the story of the introduction into music of the modern syncopated rhythm. It is one of the most tuneful and entertaining films seen on the screen for a long time and is a production that can be seen several times and each time enjoyed more than ever.
