ENGLISH FOLK DANCING

_ - NEW PLYMOUTH SOCIETY The New Plymouth Folk Dance and Song Society held an extraordinary committee meeting on Thursday at "Stradholme" to discuss suggestions made by Miss McCrindell, of the London society, on her recent visit and the organisation of the vacation course. Miss McCrindell's suggestion of a "couples" group had already been taken up, and the nucleus of such a group established, the principal rules being that only equal numbers of men and women would be admitted, and everyone must be a financial member of the New Plymouth society. Other groups may be formed. The suggestion of the formation of a New Zealand society was fpvourably received and it was decided to make this a subject for discussion at the conference in connection with the vacation course when representatives of folk dance groups in other parts of the Dominion would be present. It was decided to make an effort to get more honorary or non-dancing members. Details of organisation for the vacation course were discussed. A time-table was drawn up and a list of dances chosen.
