FLOWERS AND FAIRIES. Here are some more of Kathleen Martin's poems. They are about flowers and fairies this time— pieces both happy and gay. LAVENDER FAIRIES. Mary went into the garden To smell the lavender blue, For Mary liked the lavender As little girls should do. Mary went into the kitchen, Her mother's big scissors she took, And down she ran to tlie lavender hush That grew in a little nook. Then Mary cut tlie lavender ! And inside she was led; j Her mother gave her a lovely tea Before she went to bed. She woke when tlie moon was shining, ' And in her room she could. see ! A lot of lavender fairies, Happy end gay and free. FLOWERS. . J love tlie pretty daisy In her dress of pirik, And the blue forget-me-not That makes us all to think. 1 love next ihe lily, So tail, so sweet and so white, And the pretty little violet Which hides right out of sight. I love the beautiful roses, Quite a lot have I; And the pretty little primroses, They're just a little shy. I love the little pansy With her pretty face; And last of all the daffodil That grows in every place. THE PIPER. There is a little piper Who lives down the street; He wears a funny hat And he's got funny feet. His house is bright and sumiy, He has four litte rooms, And everything is smiling— He's got such tiny brooms. This funny little piper Plays the whole day through, j And if you like him very much ■ I He'll sing a song to you. THE FAIRY DELL. Dancing in the moonlight In the fairy dell Are the pretty fairies, Elves and gnomes as well. See the dear old apple tree Bend its branches low, So that they can dance and play As round the tree they go. Drinking out of honey-cups, j Smelling all the flowers, Sitting in the buttercups j And spending happy hours. j
