STRATFORD

Mrs. S. Porritt and Miss Manu Porritt heve returned from a holiday in Hawkes, Bay. Mrs. D. J. Malone and Miss Molly Malone have returned from a holiday visit to Wellington. Mrs. C. Williams, New Piymouth, was a visitor to Stratford on Thursday. Misses Betty Bishop and Marcia Allen, of Solway College, Masterton, spent last week with their parents at Stratford. Mrs, TYuby King and Miss Josephine King were New Plymouth visitors to Stratford on Thursday. Mrs. Lund, who was the guest of Mrs. R. Curtis, has left for the north. Mesdames R. Tyrer and J. C. Allen were bridge hostesses this week, Afternoon Tea. Delicately shaded plnk applp blossom, multi-coloured sweet peas and a coloured variety of azaleas were arranged in Mrs. E, C, A, Gaw's spacious. lounge on Friday aftex-noon when her guests at tea were Mesdames V. C. Fookes, Stewartj McGregor, Ray Stokes, J. Coupe, H. ParsQiis, N, R. Wills and Litherland. The hostess wore a flowered ninon gown in deep ahd pastel blue shades. Farewell Dance. On Thursday night the Misses Lucy Peim, Joyce and Betty Hale were joint hostesses at a dance for Miss Rhea Furrie, who is shortly to leave for Auckland. Miss Penn wore a silver lame gown and matehing tailleur jacket and Miss Joyce Hale's gown of deep lavender chiffon taffetas was relieyed with gold lame. Miss Betty Hall chose melody blue taffetas shot with scavlet for her gown, which featured a bouffant skirt and scarlet decolletage flower. Miss Furrie wore a coral coloured French taffetas gown with gold .decolletage flower. Mr. Vincent Young on ibehalf of the guests presented Miss Furrie with a hat box. Others present were Mesdames Stewart McGregor (satin and velvet tunic gown patterned in tulip desigxi), R. Watkins (pink flowered lace and silver lame jacket), V. C. Fookes (black taffetas with bouffant skirt), Misses M. Power (pastel blue spotted mousseline), M. Malone (flowered silk faille patterned in comelian shades), P, Murphy, Riverlea (brown chiffon velvet with prirnrose taffetas jacket), J. Murphy, Riverlea (black panne velvet, with magnolia taffetas jacket), S- Jeffries (delphinium blue spotted ninon with shirred decolletage), Z. Masters (flame coloured French taffetas with shirred fullness), N. Ennis (orchid pink ooin spotted taffetas), C. Williams (duchess blue lace, white fur wrap), O. Masters (floral crepon patterned in sprigged design), P. Nowell, Ngaere (autumn shaded flowered georgette with navy velvet revers), L. Wickham (gangin pink flowered lace and white fur wrap), S. Henderson (waltz blue stiffened net poised on taffetas), N. Connor (leaf green taffetas with ruched trim.mings), S. Nowell, Ngaere (turquoise blue lace with Victorian decolletage), F. Connor (black and white check organza with white period collar), S. Pierce (deep Coronation blue taffetas with full bouffant skirt), U. Mijls (black cire satin and silver lame tunic gown).
