TESTS FOR KAPONGA ' B GRADE SECOND ROUND Stratford's defeat of Kaponga in tlie South Taranaki senior cricket competition last week meant the avoidanee of a pre-eminent position for Kaponga that would have taken much mterest from the contest. To-day Kaponga will rneet Power Board, lying equal third with Manaia, whose fixturc with Kaponga is set down for the following Saturday. V. Betts, who with Fostcr and Burke, has been one of the mainstays of the Kaponga team in its rise to leadership, will live at Hawera in future, it is understood, and will probably play for Power Board, rejoining his brother, S. Betts, the Taranaki and Wellington country representative. His departure will be a loss to Kaponga and a valucble gain for Power Board, which will be strengthened in both bowling and batting. Both sections of the senior B grade will begin the second round to-day. In section 1 Stratford High School has not yet been beaten but, although it secured a win against Eltham, second in the competition. it has yet to play Nolantown, a dangerous bowling combination, the first round match between the two having been postponed. Okaiawa Maori has established a commanding lead in section 2 by refreshing displays of excellent cricket. Old Collegians to-day has the best chance of checking the country eleven's success. If Okaiawa wins it will simply be a question of finding the winner of section 1 to enable the final to be arranged. To-day's matches a t;— Senior: Old Boys v. Manaia, Hawera No. 1; Kaponga v.
